Astrology - A scientific introduction

I was born and brought up in India. Astrology in India(especially South India) is as ubiquitous in our daily lives as the air we breathe. Starting from the naming ceremony of the child, to an auspicious date for buying a house, car, matching horoscopes during marriage, fixing the date of marriage and even advising when to have children, every aspect of life is driven by those inanimate things called as planets. Some ultra intelligent couples also try to plan their child's birth using C-section at an appropriate "muhurat"(auspicious time). The Panchaanga(Vedic calendar and almanac) is followed by the priests to decide the right time for doing important things in our life. As I was growing up, I could never make sense or reconcile to these things, because it was clearly evident that not everything was going great in my life, in spite of doing things as per the suggestions. 01 - Human Consciousness - An Introduction

Of late, I have been attending few philosophy meetups, where everyone keeps discussing about life and its myriad complexities. Before attending these discussions, I never realized that "philosophy" was a big "thing" in the West and somehow life's wisdom is determined by how much philosophical acumen one possesses and their knowledge about what past philosphers have written and spoken on matters of life and existence. In this process, I have encountered so many terminologies that one must know if you are considered an intellectual and pretend to be philosophicaly smart. This culture and perspective is both alarming and amusing at the same time. I will explain through these blogs why I think so. I will also try to put forward my opinions on some philosophical topics from the POV of human consciousness and spirituality.
